Does anyone know how sports medicine fellowship applications are going to be handled this year, given the collapse of the match last year? |

LB,
As you mentioned, there is no sports match this year. They're not even going to try. With that said, most programs I have looked at are accepting the "Universal Application" that has been used in prior years when the match was up and running. There are a few outliers that have their own application. You have to check with each program, if it's not listed on their website (pain in the @#$). Each application has to be mailed individually to each program.
The "Universal Application" can be found and downloaded from the AOSSM website (american orthopaedic society for sports medicine). Also of interest, most deadlines appear to be in late november to late december. Since the match is no more, I think many programs are going to try to interview as early as possible (some as early as the 1st week in january or even in december!!!) and offer slots very soon thereafter (w/in days) and try to nail down their top applicants. That's my take on the whole process from what I've heard talking to different sports docs and program coordinators. "Let's get ready to ruuuuummmmmbbbble!" Should be an interesting next couple of months.
Good luck

Arizona sent out invites today for a Jan, 14th interview date.
I'll post others as I get them. . . . . . .if I get them . I'm hoping others will do the same, as the trauma and spine guys have already done.
