Hi everyone! I'm looking into moving out of the New Orleans area after Hurricaine Katrina. I have completed my medical school and one year of General Surgery residency in the New Orleans area. I would like to relocate to an area where the best opportunities are available for me in the area of orthopaedics. Obviously, the best case senario for me is to land a first year residency spot that I can start this year. It would also be great to land a second year spot. I am also very interested in paid or unpaid research spots that can enhance my chances of landing an ortho residency position in th future. There is nothing tying me down to any one area of the country and I can pretty much move anywhere. Anybody with any info about the current availability of residency or research positions in orthopaedics, please contact me. My e-mail is nav_residency@hotmail.com

Thank you and god bless

So nice to see that compassion and altruism are alive and well amongst ortho-wanna-be's. Its nice to see people not trying to take advantage of a situation like hurricane katrina. Please! As if your situation of being in the right place at the wrong time would entitle you to an Ortho spot.
PD: "Tell me about yourself..."
YOU: "Well, i couldn't get into an Ortho Spot so i went to Louisiana for a preliminary surgical position. Then, when hurricane katrina hit, I figured I could ride the wave of sympathy into a categorical ortho spot."
PD: "how do you feel about the looting in Louisiana?"
YOU: "I just didn't find the selection diverse enough for my high standards...err...I mean...I just want to help people...yeah, thats it. I like...working with my hands...I'm a carpenter...I'm good with tools...I like sports...I eat hardboiled eggs...Did I mention that hurricane katrina hit where I live? I figure that pretty much wipes out any discrepency between my USMLE scores and viable candidates credentials...right?"

No dude... The fact of the matter is that I was indeed relocating and the best place to relocate would be where I can get a position in the field of orthopaedics. It is true that I'm an ortho-wanna-be, but I'm not looking to ride any wave of sympathy! I'm willing to work and do dedicated and productive ortho reasearch for a year or two so I can be competitive enough for an ortho spot as perhaps you are.
I can see that you are just here to disrespect people, but, along with your next wave of disrespect, if you have a few research positions you could tell me about, that would be much appreciated. Take care

My greatest sympathy to you nav_ortho. After all the strom had done, let's moved on to a new beginning. try to consider living in New York. i'm sure with the the degree that you had, your pretty much competitive to apply to the position that you desire. Plus it is also a good start. with a lot of places to relax and great schools for you kiddies, just incase you have try this New York Schools its a sourceful information. anyway, good luck. and hope this helps:)
