Newsgroup
Lists
In
newsgroups, messages are simply posted to a common access
area. Messages are not necessarily relayed by email to subscribers,
which reduces the chance for email overload. Guest book
archives may be open or closed, moderated or unmoderated.
The oldest and most used guest book archive is Usenet. Some
Usenet groups archive images as well as text, but because
of the nature of the Usenet architecture, media other than
text is stored in a proprietary format which requires decoding
and use not easily browse in a standard web browser. Although
popular in general, Usenet is not currently used for academic
orthopedic discussion groups.
